Veteran Christmas Angels
This past Christmas, with the help of our community, we started the Veteran Christmas Angel Project. This particular endeavor was inspired by one of our past Rotarians Mike Clark, with the idea of finding local veterans without families or who were in the most need during the holiday season.
After extensive research and word-of-mouth, we were able to find 37 men and women throughout Livingston, East Baton Rouge, Amite, and East Feliciana Parish
Cards were placed on our tree listing veterans gender, sizes, branch of service and wants/needs for Christmas.
With the help of our community, all cards were picked from our tree within days and we soon got to work wrapping. Most of our vets asked for clothing, one or two wanting gift-cards, cookies and even Spam. But the hardest request of all, was food.
We started our 3 car convoy and were able to deliver gifts across 3 different facilities and spend much needed time with those who gave all for us to be able to have Christmas with our families.

Veterans Home
This past year, we came across a small nonprofit organization that houses veterans in recovery from PTSD, incarceration and mental illness that are unable to successfully live on their own.
They are entirely sustained by donations from organizations such as the American Legion, the VA and any other generous benefactors available.
The organization is founded and cared for by a former Army veteran, his RN wife and volunteer staff.
While the Center is very self-sufficient, the men still appreciate our visits, cookouts, and donations.
This year we have donated handcrafted blankets, crocheted gloves, Christmas visits, and Independence Day cookouts.
For immediate help, the men are in regular need of:
-Toothbrushes
-Toothpaste
-Tshirts
-Underwear
-Socks
-Detergent
-Twin bed sheets
